A Taste of T’ga za Jug: Macedonia’s Wine Legacy
“T’ga za Jug” is a masterpiece crafted by the Tikvesh winery, nestled in Kavadarci, a city at the heart of Macedonia’s vineyard-rich landscape.
Macedonia, a land renowned for its sunny days, rich tradition, and fertile soil, is a haven for wine enthusiasts. A must-taste for every wine lover is the unique wine “T’ga za Jug” (“Longing for the South”), named after the poem by the macedonian poet Konstantin Miladinov, in which in 1860 he expressed his nostalgia for his homeland during his long stay in the cold Russia.
“T’ga za Jug” is a masterpiece crafted by the Tikvesh winery, nestled in Kavadarci, a city at the heart of Macedonia’s vineyard-rich landscape. This semi-dry red wine, made from the Vranec grape variety, boasts a deep, dark-red hue. Vranec translates as strong, black and powerful stallion. The word Vran also means raven, coloured or black, which is why this red wine is more colloquially known as black wine.
